Sending content to a digital signage screen can sound complicated, but in SignOS it comes down to three simple steps: add the screen, create a playlist, then pick content from the library and send it. Here is the whole flow from start to finish.
Step 1: Add the screen
Open the SignOS app on your display first - a pairing code appears on screen. In your signosds.com dashboard, go to Add Screen, choose your platform (Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Android, Amazon Signage, Apple TV or Windows) and enter the code, or scan the QR code with your phone. For platform-specific steps, see our Samsung Tizen or LG webOS guides. Once a screen is added, you never repeat this step for it.
Step 2: Create a playlist
A playlist is the list that defines what plays, in what order, and for how long. Create a new playlist in the dashboard and assign it to the screen or screen group you want. Assign the same playlist to screens across multiple locations at once to update your whole network in one move.
Step 3: Send the content
Now for the easy part. If the images or videos you need are already in your content library, all you do is drag them into the playlist and hit Send - it's live on screen within seconds. If what you need isn't in the library yet, use Add Content to upload an image, video, PDF or Excel file from your computer or phone, then add it to the playlist and send it the same way. Built-in content types like an Instagram feed, YouTube video or web page come from the same library.
In short: is it in the library or not?
- Already in the library: drag it into the playlist, hit send - done.
- Not in the library yet: upload it first, then add it to the playlist and send.
Either way the process runs from the same screens - no separate file transfer tool or USB stick required.
Live preview and instant publishing
You can preview content in the dashboard before sending it, and see it applied on screen within seconds of publishing. We cover this flow in full in our web-based screen management article.
Fast sending from the field
Away from your computer? Follow the same three steps in the SignOS mobile app - add a photo taken on your phone straight to the playlist and send it.
Next step: scheduling
If you'd rather have content start and end automatically on a set date instead of sending it once, combine the same playlist logic with scheduled tasks - or set up a whole week's or month's publishing plan in one sitting and relax for weeks.
