Installation LG webOS

Most of LG's commercial display portfolio ships with a built-in webOS operating system (System on Chip - SoC). SignOS installs directly as an app on the display itself - no separate media player box required - and runs on the panel's own processor. This guide walks through installing SignOS on LG webOS Signage displays step by step.

How to Install SignOS on an LG webOS Display

1. Confirm the webOS version and model

Before you start, check the display's commercial webOS Signage version. SignOS is compatible with webOS 4.0 and above and runs smoothly on current commercial series such as UL3, UM3 and UH5. Consumer LG Smart TVs and commercial webOS Signage displays have different menus - this guide is for commercial models only.

2. Install the SignOS app

On webOS Signage displays you can take one of three paths:

  • SI Server setting: go to Settings > Signage Setup > SI Server Setting and enter the app URL provided by SignOS. After the display restarts, the SignOS interface opens in full screen.
  • USB install: copy the SignOS webOS application package (.ipk) to a USB stick and install it via EZ Setting > Local Application Install.
  • Content store: if published in your region, search for "SignOS Digital Signage" in the LG Content Store / SI App section and install it.

3. Pair the display in the SignOS dashboard

When the app launches, a pairing code appears on screen. In your signosds.com dashboard, go to Add Screen > LG webOS, type in the code (or scan the QR code with your phone). Once paired, the display automatically starts playing the playlist assigned to it.

4. Auto power-on and resilience settings

  • Configure PM Mode / Power On Delay so the display powers on by itself and returns to SignOS when mains power comes back.
  • Turn off No Signal Image and the screen saver - content always comes through SignOS.
  • Lock Fail Over to the SI Server so the display returns to SignOS automatically if the app ever closes unexpectedly.

Common issues

No pairing code showing? Check that the display is connected to the internet (wired or Wi-Fi) and that the date/time is set to automatic - a wrong clock causes certificate errors and scheduling delays. On very old webOS versions (webOS 3.x and below) the browser engine is limited, so we recommend upgrading to current firmware.
